Alternatives to Institute Certificates for Membership
Qualifications are important to all professions. Within the IT training industry, the Institute of IT Training has been driving and raising standards in training since 1995.
As a pre-requisite to membership, the Institute seeks validation of competencies from training professionals either through its own professional certification (Institute Certified Training Practitioner) or other QCF (Qualifications & Credit Framework-recognised qualifications which are at least a Level 3 qualification in Learning & Development as published on the Qualification & Curricilum Authority's Database of Accredited Qualifications (see www.accreditedqualifications.org.uk).
The Institute also recognises other qualifications and accepts these as evidence for its Membership requirements at Associate level.
For membership levels Senior Associate (SAIITT), Institute Certified Training Practitioner (ICTP) and Member (MIITT), the Institute recognises only the QCF-registered qualifications - to search for a QCF-recognised certification, visit the QCA's National Database of Accredited Qualifications website for Education & Training.
For Associate (AITT) level membership, the Institute recognises other certificates that are not on the QCA's National Database of Accredited Qualifications but have been accepted against the IITT's new national standards. At present these certificates include:
- TAP
- Microsoft MCT
- CompTIA CTT+
Note that additional certificates are currently being mapped and will appear on the list later
