Membership of the Institute of IT Training demonstrates your commitment to both your own and the training community's professional development. Institute membership sets you apart from other training professionals giving you industry recognition of your skills, experience, professionalism and quality.

By joining the Institute of IT Training you will become part of the UK's industry body for training professionals, as well as belonging to the Institute's rapidly expanding community of workplace learning and performance professionals.

Accreditation of Prior Learning

Membership paths are defined for individuals demonstrating suitable competencies, through prior learning by completing the Institute's online assessment tool - IITT SkillsTracker.

IITT SkillsTracker enables you to judge your current competencies against the Institute's best practice Competency Framework to gain entry to a range of Professional Grades.

Competencies required for membership are assessed leading to a points-based score being generated against target scores for each grade of membership. Certificates already achieved, other than those awarded by the Institute, can be registered as part of this assessment process. The IITT SkillsTracker can be found at http://195.226.51.112/esi

Therefore, any individual who can demonstrably prove competence in these areas can count these towards membership, provided that the Membership Committee is satisfied as to the accuracy of the claims being made. Note that the applicant's manager will need to authorise the claims as being accurate. The final decision will rest with the Membership Committee.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is about keeping vital skills current - and it is not just confined to skills in IT. Employers need to know that their training staff are keeping themselves informed on the latest developments, and are broadening their skills base as their job specification changes.

The Institute's CPD Programme is designed to provide for members' systematic maintenance, improvement and broadening of technical, professional, commercial and personal skills on an ongoing basis. It should be understood that this programme is mandatory for all full members who wish to maintain their membership status.

The CPD programme is simple to administer with a high value-add to provide members with a structured process of planning their skills development and taking continuous steps to ensure that they are keeping up-to-date in an ever changing world.
