Membership Grades & Fees
Membership of the Institute of IT Training demonstrates your commitment to both your own and the training community's professional development. Institute membership sets you apart from other training professionals giving you industry recognition of your skills, experience, professionalism and quality.
By joining the Institute of IT Training you will become part of the UK's industry body for training professionals, as well as belonging to the Institute's rapidly expanding community of workplace learning and performance professionals.
Note that the membership requirements for each grade changes on 1 January 2009 following the IITT's publication of the new IITT/national standards for training delivery. A document which gives you an 'at a glance view' of the requirements can be found at the bottom of the page.
To become a professional member of the Institute of IT Training, you will need to provide evidence of a nationally-recognised certification/qualification, as well as evidence of subject matter expertise, relevant experience, a professional reference, as well as submitting a CPD record at least on an annual basis. Additionally, you will be required to sign up to and adhere to the Institute's Code of Professional Conduct.
Professional grades confer post nominal letters after your name (which are shown after each grade below).
This is an entry-level grade of professional membership which recognises those certificates that are not on the Qualifications Credit Framework but whose outcomes have been mapped against the IITT/national standards. Alternatively, an applicant may attain an IITT ICTP Certificate which of course fully complies with the IITT/national standards. This grade of membership confers the post-nominal letters AIITT after your name.

This is a professional grade of membership providing evidence of a national Level 3 award/certificate that is recognised on the Quality Credit Framework's national database of accredited qualifications. This prestigious grade of membership confers the post-nominal letters SAIITT after your name.

This prestigious grade of membership confers the post-nominal letters ICTP after your name. This grade signifies the holder is a validated and assessed training practitioner who is committed to maintaining this grade's level of quality on a regular basis through live assessments and CPD.

For training practitioners, this is a professional grade of membership providing evidence of a Level 4/5 national award/certificate that is recognised on the Quality Credit Framework's national database of accredited qualifications. This prestigious grade of membership confers the post-nominal letters MIITT after your name. This grade also signifies the holder is a vaildated and assessed training practitioner who is committed to regularly maintaining this level of quality on an annual basis through live assessments and CPD.
For managers and consultants, MIITT status demonstrates a rounded set of skills in learning and development combined with a validated experience and measurable achievement of business objectives.

This grade of membership is open to all full members (MIITT) who meet the following requirements:
- Senior management experience in a learning & development role for a minimum of 5 years
- Reference from an existing Fellow of the IITT
- CV, detailing significant achievements and positions held.
There is a special Fellows Application Form for this grade, a copy of which may be obtained from the Membership Secretary.
Fellowship is awarded after sanctioning by the IITT Members Advisory Board. A Fellowship may also be awarded by invitation from the Institute executive in recognition of a significant contribution to the learning and development profession and/or the Institute. |
This grade of membership is only available to those individuals who have been Fellows for a minimum of 5 years and have been invited by the Institute's executive to act as trusted advisors and/or serve on the Institute's Members Advisory Board.

The Institute offers one non-professional grade of membership, which is aimed at individuals who are involved in learning and development but in an associated capacity - such as sales, administration or marketing. Affiliation may also be used by those pursuing a learning and development career, such as individuals progressing towards Institute certification. |
Although this is not a professional grade (with no post-nominal letters after your name) it does provide some membership benefits, including access to information and advice, networking opportunities through IITT Regional Groups and the IITT's members' website IITT Connect. |
